Awami League MP Abdur Rahman Bodi was sent to Dhaka Central Jail in Keranigonj soon after a special court in the capital sentenced him to three years' imprisonment on Wednesday in a case for accumulating wealth beyond his known sources of income.
Judge of Dhaka Special Court-3 Abu Ahmed Jamadar passed the order in presence of the accused on Wednes-day morning.
Contacted, Senior Jail Super of Dhaka Central Jail Jahangir Kabir said Bodi reached the jail gate around 1:30 pm.
Replying to a question, he said he will not get division facility in the jail as he is convicted in the case. “Con-victs don’t get division in jail. Though Bodi is an MP, he won’t get division,” Jahangir Kabir said.
The court also fined Bodi Tk 10 lakh, and he will have to suffer in jail for another six months in case of failure to pay the fine.
On September 9, 2015, a Dhaka court framed charges against Bodi in the case. On August 21, 2014, the ACC filed the case with Ramna Police Station accusing Bodi, an MP from Cox's Bazar-4, of amassing illegal wealth.
The Dhaka court sent Bodi to jail in the case rejecting his bail petition on October 12, 2014.
Later, the High Court granted a six months' anticipatory bail to the MP on October 27.

Earlier on October 19, the court fixed November 2 for delivering verdict in the case after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence.
