Man killed in Cox’s Bazar clash

A young man was killed in a clash between two rival groups in Maheshkhali upazila on Wednesday night.

The deceased is Ridwan, 26, of Nunachhari village in the upazila.

There had been a longstanding dispute between two local groups over establishing supremacy in the locality, said Maheshkhali upazila parishad chairman Hussain Mohammad Ibrahim, reports news agency UNB.

As a sequel of the rivalry, the both groups locked into a clash at Nunachhari Bazar around 10:30 pm, Wednesday.

A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left Ridwan dead on the spot.
